Top Drives PL 7.0 Patch Notes - The American Dream

We really appreciate all of your feedback, so we’re excited to bring you an update featuring some of your most-requested cars, qualify-of-life improvements and fixes!

Here’s what to expect with the patch:

  • New Cars

  • Santa Monica tracks

  • Physics simulation improvements

  • Corrections and RQ/Rarity Rebalancing

  • Quality of life improvements

  • Bug fixes

New Cars
We’re filling out our US range with 89 new cars, from Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Ram, one rather nice car from a chap called Glickenhaus, and a significant expansion for Chevrolet.

This also launches what we’re calling ‘Collections’. Cars from one or multiple updates will form a Collection, defined by our car tag system. Currently there will be one collection, American Dream, for all cars from the 7.0 update.

This way we are able to run events where you can use any car from a particular update, rather than just being restricted to a single manufacturer, increasing the diversity of hands. This is a new building block for packs, challenges, events, and maybe future campaign areas.

Santa Monica tracks
Take a trip to the Golden Sun State with six new challenge types racing through a new coastal city. Race through the streets, along the beach, or compete in a drag to the end of the pier! And keep your eyes peeled for speed bumps along the way...

Physics simulation improvements
Eagle-eyed players noticed that lighter cars were slower up hills than heavier ones, which is not how physics should work. This has now been fixed, so if you want to win a hill climb race upgrading weight is now (correctly) the best way to do it.

On twisty tracks, sometimes an upgraded car will lose to an un-upgraded version, and although we fixed the majority of cases at the start of this year, there have still been occasional strange results - especially on slaloms. We’ve now given the driver AI better understanding of how to use the additional power, lower weight or greater handling an upgrade provides, so you should see a lot fewer of these unexpected results.

Corrections and RQ/Rarity Rebalancing
As noted in previous posts, we’re implementing some player-suggested corrections and adjusting some RQs and rarities. Highlights are the Rare Chevrolet Silverado (2016), Cadillac Escalade (2011) and the Ultra-Rare BMW 335d (2016) all going up a rarity as they have been corrected to have 4WD, the Rare El Camino SS 454 (1970) gaining 1 RQ and rising to Super-Rare to recognise it as one of the strongest specialists in the game, and finally the Super-Rare Mazda RX-8 (2002) coming down to Rare as its ground clearance is corrected to Low.

Quality of Life Fixes
As we mentioned before, we have some great quality-of-life fixes in this update:

  • Lock cars so you don’t accidentally fuse or sell them. For real!

  • Challenges with a rolling start now have a dedicated icon.

  • Tap to scroll through cars to fuse - much easier than swiping!

  • Play your hand in any order, as nature intended.

Bug fixes
Here’s some of the more interesting bug fixes we’ve made (including some from PL6.5 that we didn’t get around to pointing out at the time):

  • Fixed two bugs that led to server errors when picking from prize boards

  • Some track names were missing in Spanish - they’re back!

  • Fixed issue when resetting your hand after selecting all five cards to race

  • Corrected one last place where we used the word “Grip” instead of “Handling”

  • Fixed how the Top Drives icon displays on certain versions of Android

  • Fixed some truncated text in the results screen in German

  • Fixed rewarded ads not working for players on Amazon devices

  • Fixed some boot issues, including one for Android 9 devices

  • Prize car exclusion now works (so we don’t have to move previous winners between events manually, like we did for the return of the Pikes Peak)

  • Fixed some missing pack images and descriptions (like that Style Icon pack)

  • The ice on the Twisty Road track will no longer be pink. It’s almost sad to see it go, but in reality ice is extremely rarely that pink.

  • The leaderboard occasionally showed (non-existent) point changes after a tie - this will now correctly show no change in points

  • Fixed a few issues to do with tracking race tickets as players switch between devices

Have you changed the author of your patch notes?

They're just as informative, but you forgot to bring the funny 😞.

Still good but ... You know.

Is there anywhere where i can see a full list of RQ rebalances?

Thanks for the update. The feature to close a car is great. But I need a filter for closed and open cars. I miss that much.
And what happened to the other announcements about test tracks and others. Will they come in the next minor update?

At The moment I can find only the ‚play in any order‘ feature. I‘m sure, I had read about testtracks, where we can choose any track for test rides. But it seems, the article isn‘t online now. 😢

Nope. There was a fan suggesting his own ideas in KTPlay which included it though.

Apart from the 699 tune losing to 969 in handling based tracks, the patch seems great!
Also, loving car locking, fuse screen improvements and the tag filters. It would be great if you could add a locked/unlocked filter in future.

@Hutch_Robin, another wish. It would be very helpful if I could set the Close-Flag in the overtaking screen where I decide sell or take the car. 😉
