PL 10.1 - Hotfix

On November 6th we released PL10.1, a server side update for handling late joiners to events. We saw in the first event post-update some leaderboards were exceeding their size for events that should still be creating leaderboards to accommodate new event registrations. As of November 20th we have rolled out a Server Side Hotfix to resolve this issue.

The main cause of this issue is a bug unrelated to the PL10.1 update, though the consequences were mainly felt since the release of PL10.1.

During the investigation of the leaderboard issue, the team discovered a number of other longstanding bugs (that have been around since the dawn of Top Drives), which are outside the scope of this hotfix.

These are lower priority bugs, some are triaged for PL11, and some for beyond that.

If large issues remain with leaderboards overfilling when they shouldn’t, we will take further action to resolve these as quickly as possible.

Glad to hear. I hope merging brackets will not be issue anymore.

That's great news Katie.  Does this go into effect immediately (for the finals starting today) or will it take a week or two to roll out?

Is there any sort of compensation for those who were in these groups and didn't get the rank they probably deserved? Hardly fair on people who found themselves in a group of 592 rather than 300 right from the beginning @Hutch_Katie

It is immediate. The update went out to the servers yesterday, so we are keen to see the issue resolved this weekend.

Yes, we did offer some compensation. Only 2 buckets suffered from the issue and we gave out an additional prize car for every 50 additional users in the bucket. This ensured the top 1% of users pre-cut off got the prize car.

Totally missed this thread earlier. I was in 1 of those affected brackets, finished 6th in a bracket of 600. I contacted support and the issue is still open. The latest response (timed after your post) said they were still looking into whether prizes would be scaled but that it was "unlikely".

Ok, support have confirmed that the awarding of additional reward cars was for the last finals only and that no additional rewards cars are being issued for the prelims. Even though I was in a double sized bracket, that means nothing.
