    Another M8 GTE Event?

No the M8 will be inappropriate. It's a double play on words. Coupe as the body style and secondary as the ice cream. So 5x German Coupe on ice.

From where it is ice cream?

Its just "Coup d'état", English use single word "Coup", like Military coup.
This time it is "Coupe d'etat" Td Style name, because it will be Coupes bodystyle cars we will need. Plus GR. RUF packs as promotion.

The 640i xDrive Gran Coupé is classified as a saloon. 🤦‍♂️

It's a saloon with coupe body lines and 4 doors.  There's no reason it shouldn't be in the game classified as a saloon.

It’s a four door Coupé. It’s that simple. It’s why they called it a Coupé.

A saloon does not have a boot lid hinged at the roof line.

A coupe is not 4 doors.

So those 2 cars difference makes how boot is attached to roof line or not?
  • HeissRodHeissRod Posts: 6,738 ✭✭✭✭✭
How the boot attaches to the car does not define a coupe.

So, by that logic, it's not a coupe nor a sedan.  It's a hatchback.

Update - Are you talking about the Legendary S28?  If so, there is a correction to have the name changed to '640i xDrive Gran Turismo', so this is really a non-issue.

    Coupe vs. Sedan

Most people would define a coupe as being a two-door vehicle while a sedan is a four-door. That’s actually not the case, since coupes can have four doors and sedans can have two doors. The real difference lies in size. According to the Society of Automotive Engineers, a coupe is defined as being a car that has an interior space of less than 33 cubic feet while a sedan is equal to or greater than 33 cubic feet. While styling and other aspects might set the two apart more noticeably, size is the only thing that makes a difference.

The distinguishing feature of a hatchback is a hatch-type rear door that opens upwards[6] and is hinged at roof level (as opposed to the boot/trunk lid of a saloon/sedan, which is hinged below the rear window).

A coupé or coupe is a passenger car with a sloping rear roofline and generally two doors (although several four-door cars have also been marketed as coupés).

I understand your points, but the argument isn’t black and white, and to an extent marketing can help to define the category that a car fits into.

Arguably the Gran Tourismo is a fastback, which has been defined in the motoring press as "A closed body style, usually a coupe but sometimes a sedan, with a roof sloped gradually in an unbroken line from the windshield to the rear edge of the car. A fastback naturally lends itself to a hatchback configuration and many have it, but not all hatchbacks are fastbacks and vice versa."

In this case I’d suggest that the car clearly isn’t a saloon, and hatchback generally refers to smaller cars, so coupe would seem to be the most logical definition. The Plymouth Barracuda Fastback is a coupe in the game. Unless Hutch want to add fastback as a separate category?

If that’s directed at me, then the answer is that a coupe might have a boot hinged above or below the rear window, but a saloon car is in a three box configuration, which means that the boot is a separate compartment hinged below the rear window line. Saloon and sedan used to mean different things but now tend to be relatively interchangeable.

Just to clarify, I agree with this as per my post above. However, it does define a saloon, which makes this not a saloon.

I'd be more inclined to call it a saloon if I saw it on the street (which I ABSOLUTELY would like to), but technically its a ... hatchback? It's definitely not a Coupe.

I'll call it a fastback saloon.
